Patients are getting older while at the same time undergoing increasingly intensive treatments. This brings up the concept of physical resilience – the ability to recover and adapt after health-related stressors such as surgery or chemotherapy. Identifying physical resilience in older patients may enable more personalized treatment plans, ultimately allowing for better recovery and improved functional outcomes. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we conducted an international multicenter study on the treatment and recovery of post-COVID-19 patients in geriatric rehabilitation: the EU-COGER study. Over 700 patients across 10 European countries were recruited within one year and were followed up to 6 months past discharge from rehabilitation.
