LUMC will receive €50,000 from Open Science NL to establish Open Science quality indicators, prioritize them and be able to recognize and value science in a new way within LUMC.
Open Science
Open Science is about making science more accessible, inclusive, and reliable. LUMC sees Open Science as the way to make a greater scientific and societal impact. LUMC runs the Future@Work program, which includes the Academia in Motion (AiM) program. Open Science is a focus of the AiM program. LUMC has an AiM team (FAiM) working on several work streams. This project is one of those work streams.
Project goals
The project will start in January 2025 and run for one year. The project focuses on raising awareness among researchers about Open Science (OS) and Open Access publishing. We will also examine how OS is currently recognized and valued, and explore how this can be set up in a desirable and effective way in the future.
National coordination by Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS)
A total of 23 knowledge institutions received funding through the Open Science NL grant round. UL also received this grant for a project to help institutes and teams sharpen their strategy. A CWTS project proposal was honored for the national coordination of these projects. In this way, best practices can be exchanged and coordination between different institutions. The national coordination is done by CWTS researcher Inge van der Weijden. ‘The transition to Open Science requires a culture change that we can only shape together. We are building on the solid foundation of the national Recognize and Appreciate program and using CWTS’ state-of-the art knowledge and network in Open Science.’
